Preventive Treatments

Preventive treatments can be suggested to reduce the risk of future, major problems, even before the full eruption of adult teeth (around 7 to 9 years old). We often can use simple and inexpensive devices. This type of device will be presented to you at your appointment with the orthodontist (palatal expansion devices, space maintainers and others…).

It may be necessary to continue with a second treatment phase during adolescence to obtain a perfect alignment. The patient will then be informed of the costs for this second phase. The first phase treatments simplify braces treatment and can even shorten the duration of treatment when the time comes.

It is possible that no preventive treatment is necessary but the orthodontist will periodically monitor the evolution of teeth eruption and jaw growth to intervene at the right time. This is why we suggest a first consultation at the age of 7.
