X-Rays

Radiography is an essential complement to the dental exam. It allows the dentist to clearly establish a diagnosis and to treat accordingly, well before the problem can be visually detected. The dentist will prescribe the necessary X-rays in order to see tooth decay hidden between teeth, bone loss, assess past treatments, detect any oral cysts, extra teeth, abscesses, etc.

At the Michel A. Lavoie and Associates’ Dental Clinic, we use digital dental radiography and we have acquired leading edge equipment that can create panoramic, cephalometric and 3D (Conic tomography) X-rays.

Digital radiology has numerous advantages: it can reduce X-ray emissions and get a clearer image instantaneously. It is also safer and more environmentally friendly.

Can I get X-rays if I’m pregnant?
Ideally, we prefer to refrain to take routine X-rays for a pregnant woman, especially during the two first trimesters (can be done if absolutely necessary, with a lead cover-up).
